Terms of use
A free aid, with honest boundaries.
These terms explain what Fewer Barriers provides, what it does not provide, and the care still required when a document matters.
1. Using the site
By using Fewer Barriers, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site. The project is provided free of charge by Ciarán Paul Roche as an independent build-for-good project; it is not presented as a registered charity, public agency, healthcare provider, law firm, or financial adviser.
2. What Take Your Time does
The tool divides text into manageable views, changes visual formatting, supports optional speech and printing, and uses pattern matching to surface possible dates, times, amounts, phone numbers, and email addresses. It is a reading aid, not a document-analysis service.
3. Important decisions remain yours
The tool may miss, repeat, split, or misidentify text and details. Always check the original document. Fewer Barriers does not provide medical, legal, financial, safety, benefits, immigration, or other professional advice. Seek a qualified person when the text affects rights, health, money, deadlines, safety, or another important decision.
4. Your text and lawful use
Only use text you are entitled to access and process. Do not use the site to break the law, infringe another person’s rights, introduce harmful code, overload the service, probe security, or interfere with anyone else’s use. You remain responsible for the text and for how you use any output.
5. Availability and third-party services
The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every browser, device, printer, or assistive technology will behave identically. Optional device speech and external links can involve services that Fewer Barriers does not operate or control.
6. No warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, no express or implied warranty is made about accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or non-infringement. Nothing here limits a warranty or consumer right that the law does not allow us to exclude.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fewer Barriers and its creator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss arising from use of—or inability to use—the site. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
8. Content and intellectual property
The site’s original design, writing, and software remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law unless a separate open-source license says otherwise. You may link to the site and use the tool for lawful personal, educational, or organizational purposes. Your source text remains yours.
9. Changes and problems
The tool and these terms may change as the project improves. The effective date will identify the current terms. If you believe something is wrong, contact ciaranpaulroche@gmail.com so we can try to address it. Asking you to contact us does not take away any legal right.
